Niemi-Kapee

Hiking, canoeing and fishing

Less than an hour’s drive from Niemi-Kapee, you’ll find three fantastic hiking destinations. At Seitsemisen National Park you’ll enjoy both nature and visitor centre services. Helvetinjärvi offers dramatic scenery and wild boar burgers. The duckboards at Siikaneva enchant hikers, and this protected area takes visitors deep into classic Finnish bog landscape.

Fishing

Näsijärvi is known as a great fishing lake. In particular, the zander catches are highly valued. Niemi-Kapee is located on the northern edge of the lake area known as Vankavesi. Many anglers recommend this part of the lake. It's only a few kilometres by water to Murole rapids.

Kapee nature trail

The Kapeen village lean-to and nature trail are nestled in the shelter of Piikkistenvuori. The route is a short, approximately 2 km forest path with hills both up and down.

The trail starts from the Piikkistenvuori car park.

A shorter (500 m) route to the lean-to is available from Pohjankapeentie.

Fishing

All cottages come as standard with a rowing boat and simple fishing rods. You can also rent an outboard motor for €15/day (+fuel) and an electric motor for €25/day.

The sauna shore can be reached by larger boat, and it’s possible to launch a boat by trailer at Murole.

Canoeing

The beautiful rocky shores of Näsijärvi provide an excellent setting for lake canoeing. For example, you can paddle to a nearby lighthouse and enjoy a beautiful sunset. Niemi-Kapee is not far from the nearby Murole rapids. This rapid is small and suitable for beginners.

Kiimajoki route

Choose the Kiimajoki route at Terälahti with a guide, or opt for a gentler paddle on Näsijärvi. Canoes can be rented at Aitta in Terälahti.

There is also an Indian canoe at the Niemi-Kapee shore. You can ask to borrow it if you want to admire the nearby shores.
